Officer Shelly Weed has been selected as the 2012 Sandy Springs Police Officer of the Year. Weed is a hit-and-run investigator assigned to the traffic unit. She joined the Sandy Springs Police in 2007 after a career with Fulton County police.

She was nominated because she approaches her work enthusiastically and with consistency, confidence and humility, the department said on its web site.

Weed will be honored as the SSPD Officer of the Year for the Fulton County District Attorney’s Officer of the Year Award and the Sandy Springs Rotary Officer of the Year Award later this summer.
