Sandy Springs Mayor will be inducted into Rotary Club

Sandy Springs Mayor Eva Galambos

The Rotary Club of Sandy Springs plans to induct Mayor Eva Galambos as an honorary member at its July 30 meeting.

The Rotary Club meets every week at around noon at Hammond Glen, located at 335 Hammond Drive Northeast.

Galambos, first elected mayor in 2005 when the city of Sandy Springs incorporated, worked for decades to create a new city. From 1975-2005 she served as president of the Committee for Sandy Springs, according to her biography.

Galambos said she was honored by the Rotary Club’s gesture.

“I have observed over the years, the tremendous effectiveness of the Sandy Springs Rotary Club in promoting a variety of good causes,” Galambos said.  “The chapter is particularly supportive of exceptional efforts to improve public education, which is a subject dear to my heart.  I am greatly flattered that they have chosen to honor me in this way.”

Here biography on the city’s website says Galambos, “is a co-founder and former secretary of Sandy Springs Revitalization; founder of Sandy Springs Clean and Beautiful; chairwoman of Services Committee for the Sandy Springs Council of Neighborhoods; former chairwoman of the Fulton County Public Housing Authority, and founder of Sandy Springs Civic Roundtable.”

She holds a PhD in economics from Georgia State University, a master’s degree in labor and industrial relations from the University of Illinois and a bachelor’s in business administration from the University of Georgia, her biography says.
