Demolition is under way at the former Paces Apartments at West Paces Ferry and East Andrews drives. Camden USA wants to build a mixed-use development including town homes, apartments and retail shops.
“The overwhelming majority of it will be apartments,” said Bill Murray, who chairs the Zoning Committee for Neighborhood Planning Unit B, which will review the zoning request submitted by the developer on Sept. 25.
Murray said he doesn’t anticipate any friction getting the project approved.
“The neighbors are all satisfied with what the developer wants,” he said. “It’s mostly a matter of getting the filing in order regarding the [special zoning district known as the] SPI.”
As part of the Buckhead Village Special Public Interest district, the development must be shown to comply with the community vision of a pedestrian- and transit-friendly environment in order to gain approval from the city.
