Simon Property Group plans to renovate the Lenox Square mall and will be announcing new tenants, according to a statement from the company.

Spokeswoman Jordan Worrall said the renovations are expected to begin after Jan 1. 2013 and are part of a larger $1 billion renovation of the company’s properties.

“The interior mall renovations will include a number of new enhancements and amenities,” the company’s press release says.  “A fully-renovated Dining Pavilion will debut at Lenox Square with additional dining options, new ceiling treatments to increase natural light and expanded seating including an outdoor patio.  These Dining Pavilion updates were developed to enhance shoppers’ dining experience and bring new offerings from Atlanta’s restaurant scene into the mall.  The mall’s Atrium Court will also receive a new look.

“Exterior updates will include renovation of the main Peachtree Road entrance featuring an iconic two-story glass storefront with a redesigned porte-cochere and enhanced valet amenities. Additionally, the exterior will feature new display windows, enhanced lighting, landscaping and hardscape treatments, a fountain element, and a roundabout drive designed to improve traffic flow.”

The release said the renovations will include a redesign of the entrance to the mall’s Neiman Marcus luxury wing, adding a bigger canopy and valet service.

The company says it plans to announce new tenants later this year.
