Buckhead Police Blotter – dated through Oct. 20

From police reports dated through Oct. 20.

 

The following information was provided to the Buckhead Reporter by the Zone 2 precinct of the Atlanta Police Department from its records and is presumed to be accurate.

 

Assault

 

2000 block of Peachtree Road, NE – An aggravated assault was reported on Oct. 11. A woman said she got into a dispute with her ex-friend over alcohol. The friend grabbed a knife and cut the woman, she said, and pulled her hair, pushed her into a wall and caused a cut over her eye. The suspect left the area.

 

3200 block of Peachtree Road, NE – An aggravated assault was reported on Oct. 14. Husband and wife got into a dispute; the wife hit her husband with a remote control and an ashtray. She accidentally hurt herself and was transported to the hospital after the altercation. She gave a false statement and was arrested for battery.

 

Irby Avenue, NE – An aggravated assault at a night club was reported on Oct. 16. A man struck the victim in the mouth with his closed fist after a disagreement over a political conversation.

 

3300 block of Peachtree Road, NE – An aggravated assault was reported on Oct. 16. The arrestee was able to escape from officers while he was being returned to the wagon after a bathroom break. While he was trying to escape, he threw a trash can at the officers, causing injuries to one of the officer’s legs.

 

Robbery

600 block of Lindbergh Way, NE – A pedestrian robbery was reported on the evening of Oct. 13. The intoxicated victim said he was robbed at gunpoint by two unknown men. He said they took his wallet. The victim’s wife said he gets intoxicated sometimes and tells stories that don’t add up.

 

2900 block of Peachtree Road, NE – A commercial robbery was reported on Oct. 19.  A man entered the Exxon gas station and a pointed a gun at an employee and asked her to empty the register.  She said the gunman told her, “Give me all the money or I will kill you.”  She said she was not injured and she gave the suspect $360 from the register along with a pack of Newport cigarettes.  The gun used was a 9mm silver revolver.  The suspect walked southbound on Peachtree Road after the robbery, she said.

Burglary

 

4200 block of Carman Drive, NE – A residential burglary was reported on Oct. 8. A man’s ex-wife entered his home while he was away, and took his son’s dog.

 

2500 block of Piedmont Road, NE – A residential burglary was reported on Oct. 8. The door lock and frame were broken. The peephole was damaged. A birth certificate and Social Security card were stolen, but there was nothing else noticeably missing from the home.

 

1700 block of Warren Court, NW – A residential burglary was reported on Oct. 9. The suspect used the victim’s ladder to gain access to a window, climbed in and stole his TV.

 

400 block of Noble Creek Drive, NW – A residential burglary was reported on Oct. 14. Someone broke the lock on the bedroom window of the victim’s apartment while he was in the shower and stole his wallet from the nightstand near the window.

 

2000 block of Peachtree Road, NE –A residential burglary was reported on Oct. 17.  When the victim returned to the residence, he found his front door open.  There were no signs of forced entry.  A flat screen TV was missing, as were two steaks from the freezer.

 

2000 block of Liberty Court, NW – A residential burglary was reported on Oct. 19. The victims said when they arrived home they found their bedroom “terrorized.”  They said drawers were opened, personal items dumped out on the bed, and the sliding glass door was open.  They said several electronic items were missing:  Kindle, Mac book pro, Wii game system, laptop, iPad and a camera.  There were no signs of forced entry and it appeared the suspect(s) may have climbed onto the rear deck because a light cover was knocked down.

 

Larceny

 

2000 block of Howell Mill Road, NW – A larceny from a drug store was reported on Oct. 7.  A woman was seen selecting items, then placing them inside a bag she was carrying. She then ran out of the store and was found hiding in a female restroom in a nearby location.

 

2900 block of Peachtree Road, NW – A larceny was reported on Oct. 7. A woman placed her open purse in the shopping cart, and while she was shopping an unknown suspect took her wallet. Video cameras only show the victim entering and leaving store.

 

3000 block of Peachtree Road, NE – A larceny was reported on Oct. 9. A woman said someone swindled her, taking four links off of her Rolex watch. The links were not returned after the watch was repaired.

 

2000 block of Marietta Boulevard, NW – A larceny was reported on Oct. 10. The reporting person said that upon returning to the job location, he discovered that the traffic cones were missing from where he had last placed them.

 

2100 block of Hollywood Road, NW – A larceny from a store was reported on Oct. 11. The suspect stole a case of Moscato wine from the back of a truck while the vehicle was being unloaded and ran into the woods.

 

2200 block of Peachtree Road, NE – A larceny from a specialty store was reported on Oct. 11. A man and woman were seen on video unplugging the security scanner, selecting an olive green Louis Vuitton travel bag, then leaving the location without paying.

 

2300 block of Cheshire Bridge Road, NE – A larceny from a drug store was reported on Oct. 12. A man was seen by store employees placing a tube of toothpaste inside his left pocket. He paid for some other items, but not for the toothpaste.

 

3400 block of Oak Valley Road, NE – A larceny from an apartment was reported on Oct. 13.  A man invited a woman he just met on Facebook up to his room.  He told the woman he was going to take a shower. She left with $800.

 

3300 block of W. Roxboro Road, NE – A larceny from a residence was reported on Oct. 14.  Someone stole a Mitt Romney sign from the victim’s front yard.

 

Irby Avenue, NW – A larceny from a specialty store was reported on Oct. 15.  An employee said a woman entered the store under the premise of shopping.  The employee witnessed the woman move merchandise around.  Upon attempting to check out, the store employee noticed a bracelet on the woman’s arm that she did not pay for. When asked if she wanted the item, she declined and removed the bracelet. The store employee believes that the woman concealed several items inside a bag without knowledge of store employees. An inventory was done and the items were noted although they did not witness the woman concealing those items.

 

3100 block of Roswell Road, NE – A larceny was reported on Oct. 16. A woman said she was at the Buckhead Theater when she noticed her wallet was missing from out of her purse. She said later that evening she received a call stating someone had used her credit card at Walmart online.  She said customer service informed her that they had an address for the person who made the purchase.

 

3500 block of Lenox Road, NE – A larceny from an office building was reported on Oct. 16. The arrestee was seen walking from one cubicle to another, picking up items while he was vacuuming the floor. When he was stopped and questioned, he still had the items on his person.

 

4200 block of Northside Drive, NW – A larceny from a residence was reported on Oct. 16. A woman said there was an unauthorized party at her house and several pieces of jewelry were stolen. She said she found several pieces behind the home in the woods, but some pieces were still missing.

 

1400 block of Chattahoochee Avenue, NE – A larceny from a manufacturer was reported on Oct. 20. The plant manager started an investigation after an inventory check revealed $180,000 worth of soda product was missing from the plant. During the course of the investigation and review of surveillance film, it was discovered that several employees were captured removing items from the plant without authorization and loading the items into their personal vehicles.

 

Larceny from Auto

 

1400 block of Monroe Drive, NE – A larceny from an auto was reported on Oct. 10. A man said that upon returning to his vehicle he discovered the convertible top was cut off and his two front leather seats were missing.

 

800 block of Kipling Drive, NW – A larceny from an auto at a residence was reported on Oct. 12. A woman said she discovered her van was ransacked and 100 DVDs were missing from inside the vehicle.

 

3500 block of Peachtree Road, NE – A larceny from an auto was reported on Oct. 13. Someone damaged the lock to a vehicle, taking a bag. The victim came out and confronted the suspect. The unknown suspect threw the bag at the victim and took off on foot. In doing so, the suspect left his sneaker behind.

 

400 block of Hascall Road, NW –A larceny from an auto was reported on Oct. 15. A woman said she parked her car in front of her house the night before and left her windows down.  She said her neighbor saw a man reach into her car and take her purse. The neighbor gave chase to the suspect and the suspect headed toward Peachtree Road.   The neighbor was not able to keep up with the suspect, who got away.

 

2000 block of Defoors Land, NW – A larceny from an auto was reported on Oct. 16.  A woman said she returned to her vehicle to find the trunk partially open. There were no items missing from the trunk area.  Someone took 25 cents from the ash tray, she said. There were no signs of forced entry.

 

Auto Theft

 

2060 block of Bolton Drive, NW – An auto theft at an apartment complex was reported on Oct. 7. A woman last saw her vehicle when she went outside to water plants. She went back outside two hours later to get something from the vehicle and it was gone.

 

700 block of Phipps Boulevard, NE – An auto theft was reported on Oct. 9.  Someone stole a maroon 2010 Ford Expedition. The victim said he leaves his vehicle keys locked inside the vehicle on the floor.

 

1300 block of W. Paces Ferry Road, NW – An auto theft was reported on Oct. 15. A man was seen getting out of a stolen white van, jumping into a woman’s 2009 BMW (that was left running with her kids inside) and attempting to leave the location in the vehicle. He was blocked by a bystander and chased on foot.
