A police pursuit ended in a crash on I-285 and the arrest of two men charged with an armed robbery that took place this morning on Carpenter Drive, police say.

Two maintenance workers were robbed at 11 a.m. on Carpenter Drive, Sandy Springs Police spokesman Ron Momon said.

The employees of the Park Terrace Apartments were robbed of wallets, cash and cellphones by two suspects with guns, Momon said. The robbers drove away in a white Mazda car that had a temporary tag on it.

Both Georgia State Patrol and the Atlanta Police Department assisted Sandy Springs Police, Momon said.

When a patrol car tried to stop the suspected car on Roswell Road, the driver headed onto I-285 westbound and crashed at I-20, Momon said. An officer apprehended one suspect as the other ran on foot toward a nearby neighborhood, where he was caught.

Eric Justin Patterson, 17, and Antwon Deshawn Earls, 18, both residents of College Park were interviewed by Sandy Springs police detectives before being taken to Fulton County Jail. Patterson and Earls have both been charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and fleeing to elude.

Police recovered two handguns, Momon said.
