Dunwoody honors Peachtree Charter Middle School baseball champs

The Dunwoody City Council on May 9 recognized the Peachtree Charter Middle School Patriots baseball team for winning the 2016 Division A Championship in the Dunwoody Senior Baseball Middle School League.

On April 19, the Patriots defeated Marist by a score of 11-o to win the championship. Mayor Denis Shortal issued the proclamation and named May 9, 2016, as “Peachtree Charter Middle School Patriots Baseball Team Day.”

The resolution read at the council meeting:

WHEREAS, the achievements of Dunwoody’s students highlight the commitment, spirit, and pride of the Dunwoody community and should be recognized; and

WHEREAS, on Tuesday, April 19, 2016, the Peachtree Charter Middle School Patriots Baseball Team made history at the Dunwoody Senior Baseball 2016 Middle School League Playoffs; and

WHEREAS, the Peachtree Charter Middle School Patriots, coached by Matt “Wally” Wallace, Mark Julian and Zach Tonner, won the Division A Championship over Marist, 11-0; and

WHEREAS, the Peachtree Charter Middle School Patriots were led to victory by Jackson Warshaw, Jackson Denney, Gregory Green, Hudson Troxel, MattBeiger, Tyler Eith, Nathan Ward, David Julian, Robby Hardin, Michael Hooper, Charlie Weatherly, Walt Anders, Henry Gies, and Bradley Kaminski; and

WHEREAS, the Peachtree Charter Middle School Patriots Baseball Team now holds the Division A Championship from the Dunwoody Senior Baseball 2016 Middle School League; and

NOW, THEREFORE I, Denis L. Shortal, Mayor of Dunwoody, Georgia, do hereby proclaim that, in recognition of the dedication, hard work, and achievement of the Peachtree Charter Middle School Patriots Baseball Team, May 9, 2016 is hereby proclaimed as: “Peachtree Charter Middle School Patriots Baseball Team Day.”
