Tuesday, June 21, is Election Day in the runoff between Chris Burnett and Joe Houseman for the Sandy Springs City Council District 3 seat.
All voting will be held at one polling place: the Round Program Building in Hammond Park, 6005 Glenridge Drive. The poll will be open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The runoff is part of a special election to fill the District 3 seat, which was left vacant in March when Graham McDonald resigned for an unsuccessful state representative run. For more about Burnett and Houseman, see their answers to Reporter Newspapers questions here.
Only voters who live in District 3 can vote. Unlike in some partisan primary elections, voters who did not vote in the original election can still cast a ballot in the runoff.
The city is running the election itself, which is why there is a single polling place run separately from the state system.
Election Day is the same day as a Sandy Springs City Council meeting. Vote-counting will happen in the “Flying Pig Boardroom” next to the City Council chambers and may happen at the same time as the council meeting, according to city spokesperson Sharon Kraun.
