Two armed suspects were arrested in Brookhaven early this morning after they allegedly barged into a residence and demanded money.

North Metro SWAT responded to the scene and after one suspect barricaded himself in the apartment, according to Brookhaven Officer Carlos Nino.  The second suspect was arrested after a standoff of more than two hours with no shots fired and no injuries reported.

North Metro SWAT includes officers from Johns Creek, Dunwoody, Sandy Springs and Brookhaven police departments.

The other suspect was arrested after surrendering to Brookhaven Police officers shortly after they arrived and before the SWAT team responded.

At approximately 4:20 a.m., Brookhaven Police officers responded to 1750 Briarwood Road, where the Reserve at Brookhaven apartments are located, after receiving a 911 call of two armed suspects forcing their way into a residence and demanding money, Nino said.

A person in the residence was able to call the police to tell them about the incident and Brookhaven Police were able to help the person escape. BPD also set up a perimeter around the apartment building.

One armed suspect surrendered shortly after Brookhaven Police arrived but one suspect did not and was believed to be barricaded in the apartment. The second suspect was eventually arrested at about 7:50 a.m., Nino said.
