Blue Heron Nature Preserve will host an open house and plant sale Oct. 21 to showcase its initiatives and programs.
The open house be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will include exhibits, demonstrations and tours by Blue Heron and two other organizations housed at the preserve, Atlanta Audubon Society and The Amphibian Foundation. The preserve is located at 4055 Roswell Road.
A photography exhibit that is part of a citywide program called Atlanta Celebrates Photography will also debut at the open house. The exhibit will focus on pine tree preservation and the artists behind the work will speak at noon.
The online listing of the open house also mentions the kick off the organization’s Blueway Trail initiative, which will raise money to build trails that connect the preserve to Chastain Park and PATH400. However, Kevin McCauley, the executive director of Blue Heron, said the kick off has been pushed back to December. Blue Heron will have information about the initiative at the open house, McCauley said.
