Marist School has asked for a 60-day deferral of its application for a Special Land Use Permit, which is required in its plans for future expansion.

The deferral was requested so that the school can iron out differences with local neighbors, including the Ashford-Dunwoody YMCA, which expressed concern at a DeKalb Community Council meeting in October over the plan’s impact on the Y’s adjacent soccer fields.

On Marist’s Web site, Tony Zivalich, a member of the school’s Board of Trustees and Campus and Facilities Committee, said, “We look forward to continuing to working with our neighbors so we can find mutually beneficial solutions for all parties.”

Marist asked for the deferral at the Nov. 3 meeting of the DeKalb County Planning Commission. The county Board of Commissioners will review the application on Nov. 17.
