The Peachtree Battle Friends House & Garden Tour, a Buckhead tradition since the early 1990s, will feature a tour of four homes and gardens between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 4.
The homes, located on Peachtree Battle Avenue, West Muscogee, West Wesley and Dellwood were designed, renovated and decorated by award winning architects, designers and landscapers, according to event chair Ashley B. Parker.
The architects include Stan Dixon, Norman Askins and Bradley Heppner, according to Parker. The designers include Betty Burgess, Carter Kay, Huff-Dewberry and Wendy Meredith and the landscape architects include Graham Pittman, Pengelly’s and Pope-Ozio.
Tickets for the tour are $20 if purchased by April 30 and $25 on the day of the event. All proceeds benefit Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. People who buy advance tickets may purchase lunch from Cafe at Pharr for $10. The program that comes with the ticket lists the addresses of the four homes.
The home on Muscogee Avenue is a Mediterranean-style built in 1925 and purchased by the present owner in 2001. The home has been renovated several times to accommodate the family of six.
In 2007, architect Stan Dixon was commissioned to design a classical residence for the Haynes Manor neighborhood. The French architecture of the home is in keeping with the other three homes on the street. A reflecting pool provides tranquility to the outdoor rear courtyard.
The 1935 classic Cape style house on Dellwood Drive has been home to only three families in its 75 years. Respecting the integrity of the house, the latest owners agreed renovation would add more interior details rather than adding more space.
When the present owners purchased the show house built in the 1930s on West Wesley Road 15 years ago, they began putting their mark on it by first landscaping the back yard to accommodate the play needs of their two young boys—the firsts of four renovations to the property.
The tour luncheon will be served at the West Wesley home.
Parker, who also was chair of the event last year, said profits from the event increased 20 percent last year despite the economy.

Atlanta Symphony’s Home Tour
The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra’s 2010 Decorators’ Show House & Gardens is presented by the Atlanta Symphony Associates through May 9.
The Buckhead mansion is located at 3639 Tuxedo Road and has 4 acres of landscaped gardens. Parking is available at IBM on Northside Parkway with shuttles to the home.
The home is open from 10 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, Friday and Saturday; 10 a.m.-7:30 p.m. Thursday and noon to 4:30 p.m. Sunday.
