The following information was provided to the Reporter by the Zone 2 precinct of the Atlanta Police Department from its records and is presumed to be accurate.

Rape

2500 block of Lenox Road – A winning lottery ticket led to a rape allegation on the morning of July 11. DeKalb County police stopped a car after observing a physical altercation between a man and woman inside around 11:30 a.m. that day. The woman told police that the man had raped her at his Atlanta apartment on Lenox Road. The woman said the two had gone to his apartment to prepare for church and pray about their lottery winnings, but the man had then thrown her onto his bed and raped her. The man, however, said he was at home when he discovered that one of three lottery tickets he had bought won a $400,000 jackpot. He said the woman came to his home, and they wound up having consensual sex. The man said he then told the woman he was going to ride a bus to meet his boss, but she offered to give him a ride instead. During the ride, the man told police, he told the woman he planned to let his boss cash the lottery ticket. He said the woman then became upset and snatched the ticket from him, leading to the physical confrontation that DeKalb police saw. The woman was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital for a sexual assault exam, and police put the lottery ticket into evidence.

Robbery

2600 block of Piedmont Road – A woman parked her white 2010 Cadillac SRX in a garage for about an hour July 14, and when she returned with items at 5 p.m., two men grabbed her from behind, threw her to the ground, took her purse and hit her with it. One of the men failed in an attempt to steal the Cadillac, and the two assailants fled.

2900 block of Peachtree Road – Two men grabbed several cell phones at the T-Mobile Store and fled at 7:15 p.m. July 17.

Burglary

Unit block of Blackland Road – A woman returned home at 11:45 a.m. July 15 and found her bedroom ransacked. Items belonging to her and to two roommates were missing.

500 block of Mountain Way – A man who was moving filled a moving container with his belongings July 11, but the next day he found some of his furniture outside the container and some of his items missing from the container. A window in his home was broken out, and items were stolen from inside as well.

900 block of Canterbury Road – Someone tried to steal a television from the Overlook Apartments fitness room early July 12.

900 block of Canterbury Road – A laptop computer and a 19-inch flat-screen television were stolen from an apartment overnight July 14 while the victim and her boyfriend were in a bedroom. There were no signs of forced entry. The woman left a key under the mat outside the door for a new roommate, but the key was still there the next day.

700 block of Lindbergh Drive – Two laptop computers were stolen from an apartment July 17.

2300 block of Parkland Drive – Two laptop computers and video game system were stolen from an apartment July 16.

2300 block of Parkland Drive – An apartment was broken into between July 14 and 17, and items were stolen.

2100 block of Piedmont Road – A laptop computer, an MP3 player and a flat-screen television were stolen from a storage unit between July 8 and 15.

2600 block of Piedmont Road – Someone stole $718.28 from a locked safe at Hancock Fabrics overnight July 16.

2700 block of Pine Tree Drive – A laptop computer was stolen from an apartment July 13. The culprit gained entry by cutting and removing a window screen.

2900 block of Pharr Court South – A 22-inch flat-screen television was stolen from an apartment around 5 a.m. July 17. A woman awakened by her dog saw a suspicious man who may have been the culprit.

3400 block of Piedmont Road – Several laptop computers were stolen from Fidelity Bank just after 6 p.m. July 12. The thief gained entry through an unlocked back door.

600 block of Garson Drive – Two laptop computers and $60 were stolen from an apartment late July 16 or early July 17.

2300 block of Glenwood Drive – The resident of a house came home at 2:30 p.m. July 11 and found both the front door and a rear window open. Several items had been stolen.

2800 block of North Hills Drive – A laptop computer was stolen from a home between 3 and 4 a.m. July 13. The victim had left the back door unlocked.

3000 block of Slaton Drive – A rear window on a house was broken overnight July 13, and the power meter was damaged. But nothing was taken.

500 block of Woodward Way – A rear door was kicked in at a house at 11:30 p.m. July 13, setting off an alarm. The culprit got away with a 40-inch television.

2600 block of Forrest Avenue – Cash and other items were stolen from a home July 13. The victim suspects her son.

400 block of Armour Drive – An apartment door was kicked in July 17, and items were stolen.

400 block of Deering Road – A door to a house was kicked in July 13 or 14, and a television and a video game system were stolen.

500 block of Northside Drive – A laptop computer and other items were stolen from an apartment July 15.

Larceny from auto

2000 block of Dellwood Drive – A woman discovered that the catalytic converter had been stolen off her vehicle July 12.

1700 block of Peachtree Street – Items were stolen from a vehicle July 15.

100 block of Blackland Road – A window was smashed out of a vehicle parked in a home driveway July 16, but nothing was reported stolen.

4100 block of Randall Court – Tools were stolen from a white 2006 Ford pickup truck left unlocked on a street for a couple of minutes at 2 p.m. July 14.

100 block of West Wieuca Road – A window was broken out of a 2003 Land Rover parked in a lot from 11 to 11:45 a.m. July 11, and a purse was stolen.

100 block of West Wieuca Road – Rear windows were broken out of five vehicles parked at Chastain Park the evening of July 15, and items were taken from each vehicle.

3300 block of Peachtree Road – A vehicle was broken into July 12 between 1:15 and 1:30 p.m., and items were taken.

3300 block of Peachtree Road – A laptop computer and a GPS unit were stolen from a black 1992 Chevrolet between 6:30 and 7:30 p.m. July 12.

3300 block of Piedmont Road – A vehicle was illegally entered July 11, and items were stolen.

3300 block of Piedmont Road – A book bag containing a passport, a checkbook, a cellphone and other items was stolen from a silver 2000 GMC Yukon on July 11.

4400 block of Roswell Road – Jewelry and a GPS unit were stolen from a blue 2001 BMW between 6 and 6:45 p.m. July 15.

3700 block of Roswell Road – A laptop computer, luggage and clothing were stolen from a vehicle July 17.

900 block of Canterbury Road – A window was broken out of a vehicle overnight July 13, and items were stolen.

3200 block of Lenox Road – An apartment resident said a roommate stole a laptop computer July 11.

2700 block of Lenox Road – A window was broken out of a 2009 Nissan the night of July 15, and items were stolen.

2700 block of Lenox Road – Several items were stolen from a vehicle July 15.

700 block of Lindbergh Drive – A window was broken out of a vehicle early July 13, and items were stolen.

2300 block of Parkland Drive – A wallet, a Social Security card and an apron were stolen from a vehicle late July 12 or early July 13.

3300 block of Peachtree Road – Several items were stolen from a vehicle at Lenox Square on July 12.

3300 block of Peachtree Road – A laptop computer was stolen from a vehicle parked at the Westin Hotel early July 14.

3600 block of Peachtree Road – A vehicle was entered illegally overnight July 15, although there were no signs of forced entry.

2500 block of Piedmont Road – A vehicle was broken into July 15 between 3 and 4 p.m. outside a department store.

2600 block of Piedmont Road – A window was smashed out of a vehicle around 6 p.m. July 17, and items were stolen.

Buckhead Avenue at North Fulton Drive – A man reported July 15 that a front window was broken out of his vehicle a week earlier, and items were stolen. He had the window repaired before he called police.

3200 block of Peachtree Road – A Glock handgun was stolen from a vehicle that was left for cleaning at Wax On Wax Off on July 16.

2900 block of Pharr Court – A window was unzipped on a soft-top Jeep, and items were stolen overnight July 14.

3400 block of Roswell Road – A window was broken out of a vehicle overnight July 11, and change was stolen from an ashtray.

3500 block of Roswell Road – A laptop computer and an external hard drive were stolen from a vehicle early July 13.

2800 block of Peachtree Road – Police responded to a call of a larceny from auto in progress in a parking deck at 3:40 a.m. July 13. Two men fled when the officers arrived, abandoning their personal vehicle and the items they had stolen from four vehicles.

400 block of Peachtree Hills Avenue – A woman heard noise outside her home at 11 p.m. July 11 and discovered someone rummaging around inside her vehicle. The man fled in a van before he could find anything to steal.

400 block of Peachtree Hills Avenue – A window was broken out of a vehicle overnight July 12, and items were stolen.

2300 block of Dellwood Drive – Tools were stolen from a vehicle that was left open the afternoon of July 14.

300 block of Manor Ridge Drive – A GPS unit was stolen from a vehicle at 2:15 p.m. July 14. The victim saw a man exit his vehicle and leave the scene in a blue Honda Civic.

1100 block of Moores Mill Road – A purse was stolen from a black 2003 GMC Yukon in the YMCA parking lot July 13.

300 block of Woodward Way – Items were stolen from a vehicle July 12.

300 block of Woodward Way – Items were stolen from a vehicle at the Bobby Jones Golf Club on July 13.

1000 block of Howell Mill Road – A GPS unit was stolen from a vehicle July 15.

1800 block of Howell Mill Road – An Atlanta Public Schools laptop computer was stolen from a vehicle outside Walmart between 9:30 and 10:15 p.m. July 16.

1700 block of Northside Drive – A vehicle was seen driving around an apartment complex’s parking lot so a man could break into vehicles the morning of July 15. The culprit’s description and the vehicle’s tag number matched a known perpetrator.

200 block of Triumph Drive – Items were stolen from an unlocked vehicle early July 16. The owner had left the vehicle unlocked to avoid damage from burglars.

200 block of Collier Road – A laptop computer was stolen from a white 2008 Chevrolet between 2 and 3 p.m. July 13.

100 block of Ottley Drive – The catalytic convertor was stolen off a vehicle in the Planters Inc. parking lot overnight July 14.

1700 block of Peachtree Street – A window was broken out of a vehicle around 10:45 p.m. July 16, and items including a laptop computer, a digital camera, passports and checkbooks were stolen.

Auto theft

3400 block of Northside Parkway – A man left his red 1995 Ford Windstar in a shopping center parking lot overnight July 14, and it was gone in the morning.

Cantrel and Peachtree roads – A 2000 Mercury Mountaineer was stolen between July 4 and 11.

3500 block of Piedmont Road – A man found the ignition to his vehicle damaged July 12 in an apparent attempt to steal the vehicle.

3100 block of East Shadowlawn Avenue – A green 1971 Lincoln Continental was stolen between 9:30 p.m. July 13 and 12:45 a.m. July 14.

2900 block of Pharr Court – Two motorcycles, a green 2003 Kawasaki and a black 2009 Kawasaki, were stolen overnight July 14.

400 block of Lindbergh Drive – A man found the ignition and steering column on his vehicle damaged July 12 in what he believes was an attempt to steal the unlocked vehicle.

1800 block of Howell Mill Road – A purple Saturn was stolen from the Walmart parking lot the night of July 13.

2400 block of Claude Street – A white 1992 Chevrolet was reported missing July 16. A man falsely claiming to be her son was caught with the vehicle.

400 block of Armour Drive – A 2008 Nissan was reported stolen from the first level of the Armour Heights Apartments parking deck between 5 p.m. July 15 and 2:30 p.m. July 16.

Other larceny

3300 block of Northside Parkway – A woman left her wallet on the table while she went to the bathroom at Steak ’n Shake at 9 p.m. July 12, and when she returned, the wallet was gone.

3400 block of Buckhead Loop – Two people escaped after shoplifting from Ulta the afternoon of July 16.

3500 block of Peachtree Road – Three men grabbed clothing from the Polo section of Belk and fled around 1:15 p.m. July 11.

3400 block of Peachtree Road – A shoplifter was arrested at Saks Fifth Avenue just after 2 p.m. July 11.

3200 block of Peachtree Road – A man returned to his office at Cumulus Media at 10 a.m. July 13 to find his door unlocked and a laptop computer missing.

3500 block of Peachtree Road – Someone was arrested at Nordstrom after trying to buy merchandise with a fraudulent credit card and a fake driver’s license just before 6 p.m. July 16.

3300 block of Peachtree Road – A man returned to his room at the DoubleTree Hotel just before 11 p.m. July 16 and found his door ajar and a laptop computer and passport missing.

3500 block of Peachtree Road – A man grabbed merchandise near the entrance to Nordstrom at Phipps Plaza and ran away at 11 a.m. July 17.

3500 block of Peachtree Road – A teenager was caught hiding clothing under his clothes at Nordstrom in an attempt to steal the items at 3:30 p.m. July 17. He was charged with shoplifting and released to a parent.

4200 block of Roswell Road – A compressor was stolen from Chopstix on July 11 or 12.

3400 block of Lenox Road – A laptop computer was stolen from a classroom at Terry College between July 10 and 12.

3400 block of Lenox Road – Surveillance video caught someone taking items from an AT&T Store display case July 13, but the culprit escaped before police arrived.

900 block of East Paces Ferry Road – A check was stolen from the Landmark Insurance offices sometime in June, and an unsuccessful attempt was made to cash the check July 11.

3300 block of Peachtree Road – A man who hid an item of clothing in his pants at Bloomingdale’s was arrested for shoplifting July 13 at 10:15 a.m.

3300 block of Peachtree Road – A would-be shoplifter was arrested at Abercrombie & Fitch at 1:30 p.m. July 13.

3500 block of Peachtree Road – A shoplifter stole clothing from Filene’s Basement just after noon July 15.

3300 block of Peachtree Road – A person was arrested at Macy’s after trying to steal clothing July 17 at 5 p.m.

2500 block of Piedmont Road – Two people stole the tip jar from Starbucks around 10:30 p.m. July 13.

3000 block of Maple Drive – A camera was found to be missing from the office of Atlanta Models and Talent the morning of July 12.

3200 block of Peachtree Road – A man’s credit cards and driver’s license were taken from his wallet while he was t LA Fitness the morning of July 13.

3200 block of Peachtree Road – A woman stole a pair of shoes and other merchandise from the Sports Authority just after 5 p.m. July 17.

3000 block of Piedmont Road – A silver 2001 BMW that was booted at 3 a.m. July 17 was seen driving away with the boot on a few hours later.

100 block of West Paces Ferry Road – A man’s personal belongings, including credit cards, were stolen from a locker July 17, and the cards later were used illegally.

1000 block of Peachtree Park Drive – Someone cut the chain securing tools to the back of a TruGreen Landscaping Service truck outside the Peach Park Apartments and stole the tools July 13.

1000 block of Chattahoochee Avenue – Wachovia Bank reported July 15 that a former employee had cashed stolen U.S. Treasury checks totaling $34,461.

1200 block of Collier Road – A man tried to steal items from a Citgo convenience store around 5:30 a.m. July 14. When he found the doors locked, blocking his escape, he pulled a handgun, broke the glass in the door and fled.

1800 block of Howell Mill Road – A man was arrested at Walmart after trying to steal merchandise worth less than $100 at 1:30 p.m. July 11.

1800 block of Howell Mill Road – A shoplifter hit Ulta and made a clean escape at 5 p.m. July 12.

1800 block of Howell Mill Road – A man chained his bicycle outside Walmart at 1 p.m. July 17, but when he returned 15 minutes later, the front wheel was missing.

1800 block of Howell Mill Road – Two people were arrested around 7:30 p.m. July 17 after trying to steal items from Walmart.
