Jim King, president of the Chastain Park Civic Association, is trying to get walkers and runners who use the PATH around Chastain Park to change their habits and at the same time help their exercise program.

King wants those people to drive to the park to make use of the PATH trail to stop parking along Wieuca Road and other streets and use the Red Lot at the Chastain Amphitheater instead.

“After all, these folks come to the park to walk or run on the trail,” King said. “The Red Lot is just a short distance up Powers Ferry Road. It would add just a slight more distance to their walk or run and would be a big help in reducing traffic congestion in the area.”

King said the only time the Red Lot is filled with cars is during concerts, which take place at night. “The parking lot is empty during the day when these people come to the park to use the trail.”
