The Sandy Springs City Council honored a local man who has recently returned from Afghanistan by naming a day in his honor.

At its Dec. 20 meeting, the council presented declared it “Jared Ogden Day” in honor of Ogden, a Navy SEAL who graduated from North Springs High School in 1999 and recently returned from Afghanistan.

The Bronze Star winner trained in basic under water demolition, the city said.

“If I had known this was in my future I probably would’ve gotten up a little bit earlier to enjoy this day,” Ogden said.  ” … We’ve got boys down range right now getting after it, puttin gtheir lives on the line. This mission is near to my heart.”
