The Dunwoody City Council agreed to build bike lanes on Chamblee Dunwoody Road and Spalding Drive at its meeting Jan 23.

Public Works Director Michael Smith asked the council to come to a consensus on the city’s five year paving plan.

The council discussed several different ways to rearrange the funding allocated for paving so the city could include bike lanes on two major thoroughfares.

“That option has a lot of out of the box thinking and I appreciate that,” said Councilman Terry Nall.

Smith told the council that he would bring the paving contract back for discussion if there were any changes that needed to be made after it was put out for bid.

“Everything is subject to what happens when the bids come back,” Smith said.
