The City of Sandy Springs’ will facilitate three different meetings Tuesday, May 8, and residents interested giving feedback on the city’s plans for its downtown and hearing more about the city’s upcoming budget will have opportunities to do both.

There will be two meetings with city consultant Goody Clancy, the Boston-based firm to help the city draw up its downtown master plan. The first meeting will be at 9 a.m. and the second will be at 6 p.m. Both meetings will take place at the The Hitson Center 86 Mount Vernon Highway, NE.

The firm will use the input to help the City Council determine what the city’s downtown should look like and whether it should include a controversial plan for a City Hall. Some members of the council aren’t in favor of building a City Hall at city-owned property at 235 Johnson Ferry Road, known as the former Target property.

City Councilman Gabriel Sterling in an email asked his constituents to attend either the 9 a.m. or the 6 p.m. meeting, but not both.

“In order to get to the most people’s ideas, it’s not really fair to those that can only make it to one meeting if you are at both,” he wrote. “Second, if you can come, please be open minded and bring all your ideas, because in my opinion, everything is on the table. I don’t care what you may have read or “heard” through the grapevine. We want all ideas out there to be debated. Don’t feel limited.”

The 4 p.m. workshop to discuss the Fiscal 2013 budget will be held at City Hall, 7840 Roswell Road, building 500.
