Major Van H Hobbs Jr

Maj. Van H Hobbs Jr.

Maj. Van Hobbs, the new Atlanta Police Department Zone 2 Commander, will speak to the Buckhead Council of Neighborhoods on Thursday, May 10.

Hobbs recently replaced Maj. Robert Browning after APD promoted Browning to commander of the department’s special operations section. Hobbs, a 23-year APD veteran, was Assistant Zone Commander for Zone 6 in February and held that position until he moved to Zone 2.

“Hobbs will introduce himself and give an overview of his career with APD. He will also address his plans for his tenure with Zone 2,” the BCN meeting announcement says.

The regular BCN meeting will be Thursday, May 10, at 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm in Room 2315 at Peachtree Presbyterian Church. Maj. Hobbs will speak at the beginning of the meeting.  Erica Danylchak, Executive Director of the Buckhead Heritage Society, will also speak to the BCN about documenting neighborhood history.
