From police reports dated through July 14.

 

The following information was provided to the Buckhead Reporter by the Zone 2 precinct of the Atlanta Police Department from its records and is presumed to be accurate.

 

Assault

 

2600 block of Church Street, NW – An aggravated assault was reported on July 2. Five suspect(s) were involved in a physical altercation with the victim, who sustained an injury to the right shoulder.

 

2100 block of Piedmont Road, NE – An aggravated assault was reported on July 2. A unit was on routine patrol and noticed a man stagger into the street. Upon further investigation, the unit discovered he was a victim of an apparent assault. Witnesses to the assault said three men beat the victim,          causing lacerations to his nose and a chipped tooth. The victim was extremely combative and intoxicated at the time of the report. Units attempted to locate the suspects who were said to be inside a nightclub.  The club’s staff said the men were denied entry and subsequently left the scene. Grady arrived on the scene to treat and transport the victim for further evaluation. While en route to the hospital, the man jumped from the rear of the ambulance. He was later detained by another unit.

 

600 block of Morosgo Drive, NE – An aggravated assault was reported on July 4. A man said he returned home from a night out at a club on Buford Highway. Upon exiting the taxi and entering his residence, he was confronted by two unknown men who assaulted him about the face and body with an unknown object. He sustained injuries to his face, neck and arms.

 

2200 block of Lenox Road, NE – An aggravated assault at a residence was reported on July 7. A man said he was involved in dispute with his roommate over a bed. During the dispute, the victim said his roommate produced a knife and began waving it at him. There were no threats spoken by the suspect, only a show of the knife. The victim said he did not report the incident until after he received several unwanted/threatening calls.

 

2200 block of Lenox Road, NE – An aggravated assault at an apartment was reported on July 11. A domestic violence situation involving two men that had been together for five months began in a argument that turned physical. Bruises were left on one man, but the aggressor was not on the scene.

 

Robbery

3300 block of Peachtree Road, NE – A robbery was reported on July 5. A man said he allowed an acquaintance to enter his hotel room for a drink. While inside the bathroom area of the hotel room, the victim reported he heard his doorbell ring. The male acquaintance said it was a friend of his and all was good. As the victim exited the bathroom, he said he was confronted by the suspect and the visitor with a gun. They demanded several valuables from him. They subsequently fled with the valuables enclosed in a pillowcase. The victim chased after the two, and told valet he was the victim of a robbery. Police reviewed video footage of the incident. They determined the man was not forthcoming about what happened.

 

2000 block of Peachtree Road, NE – A pedestrian robbery was reported on July 11. A man said he agreed to meet “Zoe” in the ninth floor stairwell to sell him two guns. While waiting for the person to show, the victim said a man appeared, brandished a weapon, and the two began to struggle. During the brief struggle, the victim reports, the unknown man shot the victim in the front upper thigh area. When the victim ran from the scene, he dropped his backpack. It contained a 9 mm and .40 caliber weapon.

 

Burglary

 

4200 block of Rickenbacker Way, NE – A residential burglary was reported on July 4. An            unknown suspect kicked in the back door of the victim’s home and stole the hot water heater and refrigerators.

 

Larceny

 

1700 block of Defoor Ferry Avenue, NW – A larceny from a specialty store was reported on July 1. A woman left the business with vital information after she was laid off.

 

3700 block of Roswell Road, NE – A larceny was reported on July 1. A taxi driver said an intoxicated man approached him about a ride, but said he did not have the money to pay for the fare. After the driver  told the man he was unable to provide transport unless he paid for the fare, the suspect

became irate and snatched the taxicab key from the ignition and fled. A short canvas was conducted and the man was not located.

 

3700 block of Peachtree Road, NE – A larceny from a residence was reported on July 2. A woman said she was moving, and while the movers were there, she left her purse on the counter and went into another room. She returned after the movers had gone and noticed her purse was missing. She could not remember the name of the moving company.

 

3300 block of Peachtree Road, NE – A larceny from a specialty store was reported on July 3. An unknown suspect put a Rolex watch on, then ran out of the store without paying.

 

1700 block of Howell Mill Road, NW – A larceny from a supermarket was reported on July 4. A witness said she saw a man and woman stealing several pairs of pants from Kroger. The witness said when they noticed her they drove off. When the witness went inside the suspects tried to steal a grill from outside the store. The tag to the vehicle came back to an address in Sandy Springs.

 

3000 block of Piedmont Road, NE – A larceny from a convenience store was reported on July 5.            A man said he left his wallet on the counter. When he returned later to see if it was there, he could not locate it.  Security video shows a man taking the wallet and putting it in his pocket and leaving.

 

2100 block of Cheshire Bridge Road, NE – A larceny from an apartment complex was reported on July 7. A man said he was at his apartment pool when he placed his iPhone on a lounge chair. Upon returning to that chair, he saw the phone was missing.  He said he was able to track his phone to somewhere in Marietta.

 

1900 block of Peachtree Street, NE – A larceny from a store was reported on July 8. A woman said she placed her cellphone on the store counter, subsequently walking away, leaving the phone unattended.  A man was seen on video picking up the phone and leaving. The victim and a store security guard attempted to chase after the suspect but he fled. A Zone 5 unit spotted that same suspect attempting to break into cars. When apprehended and searched, the woman’s cellphone was found on him. While in custody, the suspect attempted to destroy the phone to prevent investigators from locating the owner of the phone. The victim was subsequently contacted, footage reviewed and a warrant issued. The man was taken to Fulton County Jail.

 

3300 block of Peachtree Road, NE – A larceny from a department store was reported on July 8. The arrestee was seen selecting 16 polo shirts, placing them in a bag, then attempting to leave without paying.

 

1800 block of Cheshire Bridge Road, NE – A larceny from a hotel was reported on July 8. A man said he and a male acquaintance were inside his hotel room singing and playing the guitar. While playing, another man known as “Jojo” entered the room to listen to the victim play. The man then asked the victim if he could use his cellphone to make a call. When the victim looked for his cellphone later that evening it was missing. ”Jojo” was never located by the victim, and hotel staff said he checked out of his room that evening. 

 

600 block of Lindbergh Drive, NE – A larceny from a convenience store was reported on July 10.  The victim said a man entered the store several times during the day. The last time the man came in, he selected a pack of gum for purchase. Upon opening the register, the victim reported the man reached over the counter and snatched money from the cash register. He then fled, dropping some papers. Other officers in the area heard the man’s description and said they had talked earlier that day with a man fitting the description.

 

3400 block of Peachtree Road, NE – A larceny from a department store was reported on July 10.  Loss prevention staff said that someone switched two rings out of the ring display case with fake rings. The rings in question are said to be worth $49,430. The theft was only discovered after an employee was showing a customer one of the rings and noticed missing stones.

 

3100 block of Peachtree Road, NE – A larceny was reported on July 12. A woman said that her wallet was stolen out of her purse while she was at a tavern with some friends. She said her purse was left on a stool with her friends while she went to the restroom.

 

1000 block of Huff Road, NW – A larceny was reported on July 13. The suspect opened numerous fraudulent accounts in the victim’s name totaling $267,000.

 

3500 block of Peachtree Road, NE – A larceny was reported on the evening of July 14. A projector was stolen from a movie theater.  The location was left unsecured.

 

Larceny from Auto

 

 

2100 block of Northside Drive, NW – A larceny from an auto was reported on July 7. A man said when he returned to his vehicle he noticed items were missing, although there was no forced entry. He said he left the windows far enough down to where someone could stick their arms through, and didn’t remember whether he left the doors unlocked.

 

3300 block of Piedmont Road, NE – A larceny from an auto was reported on July 13. Two vehicles were broken into and personal belongings taken at the same location. Both vehicles’ locks were damaged.  The suspects took a wallet with ID and change, and a gold necklace from victim #1, and $300 in cash, a stroller and two hats from victim #2.

 

Auto Theft

 

1100 block of Huff Road, NE – A vehicle theft was reported on July 3. While on routine patrol, officers saw two men pushing scooters down the street. Upon stopping and speaking with one man, an officer  noticed the ignition key not with the scooter. The other man in question was seen placing the scooter on the ground and stepping into the wood line in an attempt to separate himself from the other scooter in question. Upon attempting to speak with that man, he fled the scene by jumping over a fence. One of the men in question was later apprehended after a brief foot chase. That subject told officers the two scooters in question were taken. They confirmed both scooters had been taken from a lower-level residential parking deck. They were recovered and returned to the owners. One subject was still missing at the time of the report. Both officers received minor injuries during the pursuit and subsequent apprehension of the subject.

 

1900 block of Piedmont Circle, NE – An auto theft from a nightclub was reported July 7. A man said that he left his car keys, wallet and phone on the bar while he went to the restroom. When he came out of the restroom, the bartender told him that they saw his car leave the parking lot, and they thought it was him. The bartender said she saw bald man running in the parking lot who appeared to be trying to locate a vehicle using a key fob.

 

1800 block of Cheshire Bridge Road, NE – An auto theft was reported July 12. A man said that a person he met a few days earlier came to his apartment and asked to use his vehicle.  He said no. When he woke up the next morning, he discovered that his vehicle was missing.
