The City of Sandy Springs has announced that the John Ripley Forbes Big Trees Forest Preserve will remain closed while crews remove downed trees from recent storms.
“The Big Trees Board has recommended that the Preserve be closed until the trees can be removed,” city spokeswoman Sharon Kraun said in a press release. “We will let all know once we have an estimated time of completion from the tree service.”
The park is named after conservationist John Ripley Forbes and is located near city hall. It sits on 30 acres and contains two creeks and recreation trails, among other amenities listed on the Big Trees website.
