North DeKalb lawmakers appeared to  hold their own against challengers from within their own party during the primary elections May 20.

Also, in the nonpartisan special elections also conducted May 20, incumbent Sheriff Jeff Mann faced a runoff with former DeKalb CEO Vernon in the race to succeed former Sheriff Tom Brown. DeKalb school board member Marshall Orson held more than 60 percent of the vote in his race against Don McChesney.

Rep. Mike Jacobs (R-Brookhaven) collected three-fourths of the Republican Primary vote in his contest with Catherine S. Bernand, according to unofficial election returns reported on the Georgia Secretary of State. Rep. Tom Taylor (R-Dunwoody) received nearly two-thirds of the vote in his Republican Primary race against James Bradley “Brad” Goodchild.

Sen. Fran Millar (R-Dunwoody) collected more than three-fourths of the votes cast in the Republican Primary in his race against challenger Dick Anderson. The winner will face Democrat Tamara Johnson, who captured nearly 70 percent of the Democratic Primary vote over opponent Benedict Truman.
