Dunwoody City Council approved changes to an ordinance to allow flags to be flown before and after holidays.

Based on various complaints the city received from a resident regarding the display of numerous American flags at a local church, St. Luke’s Presbyterian, Mayor Mike Davis and city council members initiated an amendment to the sign code to address the display of multiple flags on one property, and to extend the time period for such displays. Now, the ordinance allows for flag displays for up to seven days before and after a holiday, whereas previously the sign ordinance restricted the number of flags that could be displayed on a property.

The approved changes modified the sign code by defining and expanding the exemptions to include election days, and also provided for longer time periods for flags to be displayed.
