Update:

City Council on Dec. 16 approved a $31 million budget for 2015.

The general fund budget is $19.5 million for both revenue and expenses, up from 2014’s adopted budget of $18.5 million. The amended 2014 budget after mid-year adjustments totaled $20.5 million in 2014.

The council asked city staff members to hold off on the budget’s 3 percent raises for city employees until a formal review process is adopted.

City staff presented Brookhaven City Council on Dec. 2 with a first look at 2015’s budget.

“We are expecting to operate this year on a $31 million budget,” City Manager Marie Garrett said.

The general fund budget is $19.5 million for both revenue and expenses, up from 2014’s adopted budget of $18.5 million. The amended budget after mid-year adjustments totaled $20.5 million in 2014.

The budget will tentatively be adopted after a second public hearing at the city council’s regular meeting on Dec. 16 at 7 p.m.
