Bullet holes seen in an apartment door after a shooting took place at about 2 a.m. Sunday Dec. 13 at the Darlington Apartments in Buckhead.

A Buckhead woman was injured in the finger by a bullet that entered her apartment through a closed door Sunday at about 2:30 a.m., police say.

Natasha Smith, who lives at the Darlington Apartments in the 2,000 block of Peachtree Street, was treated for a gunshot wound and released from Piedmont Hospital, said Elizabeth Espy, a spokesperson for the Atlanta Police Department.

A man who heard about the shooting went to the seventh floor of the apartment building and took photos of the bullet holes in the door. He asked not to be named, but said he heard from residents that between six to 10 shots were fired.

“Apparently, someone shot through the wall of an apartment,” he wrote in an email. “The residents inside the apartment fired back through the wall with an automatic weapon.”

Espy said Donald Davis, a 23-year-old resident, was seen in the hallway shortly before the shots were fired is considered a suspect sought by police.
