A Doraville man is in police custody after a teen girl identified him as the man who tried to kidnap her, according to a Brookhaven Police statement.
Brookhaven Police Department arrested Carlos Pacheco-Navas, 32, on June 18. According to a statement from the BDP, officers responded to an attempted kidnapping call about 7 p.m. in the area of the 3700 block of Peachtree Road and met with a 14-year-old girl and her mother.
The teenager told police Carlos Pacheco-Navas followed her from the Brookhaven MARTA station and made “inappropriate advances” toward her.
“Carlos Pacheco-Navas continued to follow her home and tapped her on the shoulder several times to get her attention. Carlos Pacheco-Navas then grabbed her and pulled her shirt. [T]he victim was able to get away from the suspect by kicking him on the leg and running away from him,” according to a BPD report.
Police found the suspect in the parking lot a nearby business and he was arrested. He faces charges of child molestation, enticing a child for indecent purpose and simple battery.
He is booked at the DeKalb County Jail.
