DeKalb County voters can take a look at sample ballots online for the Democratic, Republican and nonpartisan races slated for the July 24 runoff election. Early voting is taking place through July 20. Developer seeks to rezone Brookhaven’s Ivy Place apartments for higher density

A developer is seeking to rezone the approximately 15 acres on Clairmont Road where the Ivy Place Apartments are located so it can tear down several buildings and replace them with two new buildings and increase the number of available units. The apartment complex, at 3028 Clairmont Road, is just north of the intersection of Clairmont Road and I-85. Zoning ordinance rewrite topic of Brookhaven mayor’s July 19 town hall

Brookhaven Mayor John Ernst will hold a July 19 town hall meeting to go over the zoning ordinance rewrite with presentations by project managers and time to ask questions. Ashton Woods appealing Brookhaven’s Boys & Girls property decision

Brookhaven releases list of $40M in proposed parks bond referendum projects

Brookhaven city officials are recommending nearly $40 million in parks projects to be paid for by a proposed parks bond referendum. The City Council is set to vote July 24 on whether or not to put the referendum on the Nov. 6 ballot. The project list includes spending more than $10 million at Lynwood Park, which city officials say has “been neglected for decades,” and another nearly $7 million at Murphey Candler Park because it is the city’s largest and most used park, including the location for many recreational children’s sports leagues.
