Brookhaven mayor holding 2 ‘chats’ on Aug. 26

Brookhaven Mayor Rebecca Chase Williams will hold two “Chat with the Mayor” events on Weds., Aug. 26 to hear residents’ feedback. The first chat is slated for 10:30 a.m. at the Ashford Park Recreation Center, 2980 Redding Road. Williams also will appear the Food Trucks event running 5 to 9 p.m. in Blackburn Park, 3493 Ashford Dunwoody Road. Charges against former DeKalb judge dropped

False-statement charges against former DeKalb County Judge Cynthia Becker have been dropped just days after an indictment, according to an ajc.com report. Becker was accused of lying about her controversial rejection of a plea deal in a 2013 corruption case involving the county’s former school superintendent. Becker, who is now retired, reportedly acknowledged she unintentionally made incorrect statements about the plea deal, but that she did not lie.
