Attorney joins race for Brookhaven’s District 1 council seat

Eve Erdogan, an attorney and real estate investor, today qualified to challenge incumbent Linley Jones for Brookhaven’s District 1 City Council seat. Erdogan is an executive at Chamblee-based ACT Investments, which invests in multifamily real estate projects, Erdogan said. None of those projects is in Brookhaven, she said. Erdogan said she is running to bring “checks and balances” and a “separation of power” to city government, expressing concern that Jones was “appointed” to her seat by current Mayor Rebecca Chase Williams. “I do like her and I do think she has a pretty good chance of winning,” Erdogan added about Williams. Brookhaven mayoral election is a 3-way race

Incumbent Rebecca Chase Williams will face at least two challengers who filed today for the Brookhaven mayoral election. Joining Williams in the race today were John Ernst Jr., the former chairman of the DeKalb County Board of Ethics, and Dale Boone, a professional competitive eater who frequently attends City Council meetings. In the City Council election, incumbents Linley Jones (District 1) and Bates Mattison (District 3) qualified today. The Districts 2 and 4 council seats are not on the ballot this year.
